Flower picking

Daffodil Flowers

The Scottish flower picking season commences in early March for a period of around 6 weeks, with 300 to 400 flower pickers involved on the various farms on a daily basis.

A range of 40 varieties are picked from our 15 farms which gives us the seasonal spread in order to satisfy customer demand. The flowers are marketed to a range of customers in the UK, mainland Europe, USA and Canada.

The flowers are cropped, bunched primarily in bunches of 10 stems and trayed up in the field. The flowers are then moved into cold-storage to remove the field heat and ideally packed and despatched within 24 to 48 hours.

The emphasis as with all our products is to produce quality daffodils, minimising the period from “field to shelf”, resulting in maximising the vase life to our customer.
