Also this week, Managing Director Mark Clark has been on his annual visit to Scandinavia to visit bulb forcing customers, some of which Grampian Growers have dealt with for over 40 years including Alverbacks in Ekero in Sweden.

The daffodil bulbs are exported from Montrose to Scandinavia in September where they are then planted into various sized pots depending on customer demands.

A process known as bulb forcing which through various spells at differing temperatures tricks the bulbs into thinking it is spring, creating very early pot flower production.

The photos show the various stages from potting up to the end article being sleeved ready for despatch. Each year around 7 million bulbs are sent to Scandinavia for forcing.
